Overview

The Chief Legal and Compliance Officer oversees all legal matters and ensures that the organization adheres to relevant laws and regulations. This role involves developing compliance programs, providing legal guidance, and fostering a culture of integrity within the nonprofit to support its mission of driving social impact in Uganda.

Responsibilities

  1. Develop and implement legal and compliance policies to ensure organizational adherence.
  2. Provide legal advice on contracts, partnerships, and grant agreements.
  3. Monitor changes in laws and regulations affecting nonprofit operations.
  4. Oversee risk management strategies to mitigate legal exposure.
  5. Conduct training sessions for staff on compliance and ethical practices.
  6. Collaborate with external legal counsel as needed for specialized issues.
  7. Ensure transparency in reporting and governance practices.
  8. Manage compliance audits and respond to findings effectively.
  9. Advocate for best practices in legal and ethical standards within the organization.
  10. Support the Board of Directors with legal insights and governance matters.
