Overview

The Legal Officer will provide essential legal support to ensure compliance with Ugandan laws and regulations, while safeguarding the organization’s interests. This role involves drafting and reviewing contracts, advising on legal matters, and collaborating with various teams to promote best practices in governance and compliance. The Legal Officer will play a vital role in helping us achieve our mission of driving social impact in Uganda.

Responsibilities

1. Provide legal advice and support to ensure compliance with Ugandan laws and regulations.
2. Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and agreements related to organizational activities.
3. Conduct legal research to address emerging issues and inform decision-making.
4. Assist in the development and implementation of organizational policies and procedures.
5. Represent the organization in legal proceedings and negotiations with external parties.
6. Monitor changes in legislation and advise the organization on potential impacts.
7. Support fundraising efforts by ensuring compliance with donor requirements and legal standards.
8. Train staff and volunteers on legal matters relevant to their roles.
9. Collaborate with other departments to mitigate legal risks and enhance operational efficiency.
