Overview

The Building Maintenance Officer at the organisation is responsible for ensuring that all facilities are safe, functional, and welcoming for our team and community members. This role involves routine inspections, repairs, and coordinating maintenance tasks to support the organization’s mission of driving social impact in Uganda. By maintaining a clean and efficient environment, the officer plays a vital role in enhancing our programs and services.

Responsibilities

  1. Conduct regular inspections of facilities to ensure safety and functionality.
  2. Perform routine maintenance tasks including plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
  3. Coordinate repair work with external contractors when necessary.
  4. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and inventory of supplies.
  5. Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff and volunteers.
  6. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in all maintenance activities.
  7. Assist in the development and implementation of a preventive maintenance schedule.
  8. Oversee the cleanliness and organization of maintenance areas and equipment.
  9. Train and supervise volunteers or junior staff involved in maintenance tasks.
  10. Provide recommendations for improvements to enhance facility operations and safety.
