Securing Labouring children Rights in Busoga (SLCR)

The project aims to combat child labour in the agricultural sector, particularly in the sugarcane value chain and commercial sexual exploitation, in the regions of Busoga. It aims to strengthen the child protection system, community knowledge, and law enforcement authorities to identify, rescue, and recover survivors of child labour. The project will address gaps in legal and policy frameworks, weak enforcement, and monitoring and evaluation mechanisms. It will support education and training innovations to improve awareness, access to social protection, and evidence-based services. The project will work with the National Steering Committee on Child Labour and district sub-county and parish level stakeholders to address gaps in coordination and collaboration frameworks. The project will also enhance livelihood support for vulnerable households and young people, contributing to the overall objective of reducing child labor in the agricultural and commercial sexual exploitation sectors in Jinja and Luuka Districts, Uganda.

Help Build a School for Orphans and Poor Children in Teso

In the Teso sub-region of Uganda, many children are growing up without the chance to go to school. Most of these children come from families struggling with poverty, while others have lost one or both parents. For them, education is a dream they can only watch from afar. This project, led by Children’s Light of Teso Foundation (CLTF), seeks to build a free primary school combined with a small technical training center that will offer both academic and practical education. The aim is to create a place where orphans and poor children can study, learn skills, and develop confidence in themselves.

The school will provide quality education for children who have been left behind due to financial challenges. Many of these children stay home or end up doing small labor jobs to help their families survive. Some are raised by grandparents who cannot even afford school uniforms, let alone school fees. The project’s vision is to bring hope and light back into these children’s lives through education that is free, inclusive, and skill-based.

This school will not only focus on classroom learning but also introduce practical training in areas like tailoring, carpentry, and small-scale farming. Such skills will help learners become self-reliant and break the cycle of poverty. We believe that every child, no matter their background, has a right to learn, grow, and live a meaningful life. The Children’s Light of Teso Foundation School will be a place of transformation — giving orphans and poor children the opportunity to build a brighter future for themselves and their community.

SettlingIn Children’s Home

The SettlingIn Children's Home aims to address the urgent need for a safe and nurturing environment for children left behind by Ugandan parents who travelled abroad seeking better opportunities but faced hardships such as economic instability, exploitation, or untimely death. These children, often exposed to neglect, abuse, and poverty, will receive housing, education, healthcare, and emotional support to heal and thrive. The project fosters stability, resilience, and hope by alleviating the emotional burden on parents abroad, enabling parents to focus on rebuilding their lives while knowing their children are cared for. In the long term, the initiative breaks cycles of poverty and neglect, strengthens family bonds, and empowers children to become independent, contributing members of society.

Empower Juma, A Step Towards Education and Innovation

Last year, Juma received a pair of shoes from his grandfather, a gift bought from the proceeds of a small coffee harvest. However, this year, Juma has been attending school barefoot, feeling out of place among his schoolmates. In a remarkable display of resourcefulness, Juma has been trying to fix his worn-out shoes using materials from his surroundings. Inspired by his story, we are launching this project to provide Juma and other children in his community with proper footwear, enabling them to continue their education comfortably and with dignity.

Empowering rehabilitation and resettlement through mobility

Happy Care Foundation seeks funding to acquire a reliable vehicle to enhance its delivery of legal services, rehabilitation, resettlement, and mental health support to juvenile offenders, youth, women, and elderly individuals in conflict with the law in Uganda with concentration mainly in West Nile, Acholi and Lango subregions.

The vehicle will improve access to courts, rehabilitation programs, resettlement initiatives, and mental health services, addressing geographical and logistical barriers. The project, with an estimated cost of 105,600 USD, aims to increase operational efficiency, reduce transportation costs, and empower vulnerable populations through timely and effective interventions.

How Does a Platform Like “Little x Little” Work Differently?

For too long, aid in Africa has followed a top-down script: Donors in the Global North fund large international organisations, who then trickle down resources to local implementers, often with strings attached and little say from the people most affected.

What Does Results-Driven, Transparent, Accountable Aid Look Like?

For decades, billions of dollars in aid have flowed into Africa. Yet, progress often feels painfully slow. Why? Because much of the aid has been disconnected from impact on the ground. It’s time to stop asking how much money is being sent, and instead ask: “Who is making decisions? Where is the money going? And what are the real results?” This is where a new aid model comes in one that is results-driven, transparent, and accountable to the people it’s meant to serve.

Kindness doesn’t cost a thing, yet it is the richest gift you can give.

In a world filled with challenges, it's easy to overlook the small ways we can make a difference. But I’ve learned that every act of kindness, no matter how small, carries the power to change someone’s world.

Why Nonprofits in the Little by Little Community Need Them

In the nonprofit world, securing funding is often one of the biggest hurdles to achieving your mission. Unfortunately, many nonprofits in the Little by Little community operate under a misconception: they believe that if they simply put up a website, donors will be inspired to contribute. While a well-crafted website is a great tool for sharing your story, it’s far from enough to guarantee donations. To truly engage with donors and funders, nonprofits must understand the power of writing a well-developed project proposal.

Why Every Child Needs Basic Computer Skills

In today's world, technology is everywhere. It's shaping how we communicate, learn, work, and even how we solve everyday problems. As parents, one of the greatest gifts you can give your children is the chance to learn essential computer skills, skills they will need to thrive in this digital age. Since 2019, African Soul Initiative has been running its Computer Training Program for the Youth, designed to equip young people with foundational IT skills during their school holidays.
